Here’s a list of gears that I like and stuff that I use.
clothing
t-shirt
MUJI Washed Heavy Weight Crew Neck
If you ever have the pleasure of buying these in China, you should. It’s cheaper there. This is a white T-Shirt, its 100% cotton, its heavy, you can wipe your glasses with it, why not?
shorts
Amazon Essential Inseam Drawstring
They are like very basic shorts; they are a nice quality, don’t seem to break, and is drawstring instead of rubber band which makes them nice to adjust.
outer shell
Arc’teryx Norvan LT / Arc’teryx Norvan SL
They don’t seem to exist anymore, but they are the absolute LIGHTEST jackets I’ve found that’s truly Gor-Tex certified (and Pittsburgh compatible). I will let you know
warm layer
Patagonia Men’s Nano-Air Light Hybrid Jacket
The sick neon green color doesn’t exist anymore, but this is the lightest (have you noticed a theme?) warm jacket I’ve found. I love it to death.
shoes
I used to use a Moab Light from Merrell that had vents. I think the closest equivalent that’s still around is….
which are the nicest light waterproof shoes I use (yes, I also have a pair of MQMs and am very happy with them).
running shoes
Love them to death; I literally have gone through like 6 pairs playing tennis and running. Never felt a shoe so stable.
sunglasses
I think they make me look like a policemen wannabe, but they are super comfortable (and stays on my head), and does an amazing job for filtering.
contacts
They disappear in my eyes; are totally wonderful. (granted, I’ve tried only like 3 brands)
pens
ballpoint
Erasable pens is cool again. The gel rollout is so very smooth, and it writes quite wet (unlike a lot of the standard ballpoint pens). And! Its heat erasable!! You can erase stuff with its built in eraser, and if you really want to, cook your notebook in the microwave and it all becomes gone.
felt
An amazing felt pen with lots of ink that doesn’t feel as dry or jumpy as the ones that Sharpie makes.
fountain
A classic fountain pen, a generally wet writer, so smooth and amazing ink capacity.
pencil
Its a nice and heavy mechanical pencil, and it rotates the lead for you.
eraser
The grip is super nice when you need to erase a page of your crap writing in a middle of the test.
Backpack
I spent forever looking for a backpack. This one has all of the things I need: hip belt with things in it, 2 water bottle holders, laptop pouch, three components, outer “stuffable” bag, backplate; it’s amazing. The Osprey guarantee is also great.
Laptop
Its a wonderful (and shockingly price efficient?) laptop; the battery lasts forever, the track pad is amazing, the engineering is great, runs the best operating system for mere mortals. What’s not to like?
Tablet
Its a very small iPad (almost phone size!) But, it gets the drawing/writing job done and mostly stays out of the way.
Accessories
Mouse
A silent mouse with big power; there’s a tremendous amount of functionality you can add to this mouse; and also great for editing video.
Headphones
I heard the new one is better, but these are the most comfortable over-ears I found with state of the art noise canceling. Oh, and the battery lasts forever.
Keyboard
Its a QMK/VIA addressable mechanical keyboard, low profile (amazing!), and super small and performant. Its an extremely good time.
Portable Hard Drive
Its an expensive SSD, but it literally never breaks and its my go-to going anywhere.
